The first step in planting food plots for wildlife, or for growing vegetables or flowers, is to know your soil pH.  pH is a measure of soil acidity or alkalinity.  A pH of 7.0 is considered neutral.  As you go above 7.0 it becomes more basic or alkaline; below 7.0 becomes more acidic.  The pH level of your soil determines how well your plants are able to use the nutrients in the soil.  Low pH soil can have high concentrations of aluminum, iron, and manganese which may be toxic to the growth of some plants.  As a result many people have failed in trying to establish food plots or gardens in soils that are out of the acceptable pH range for the plants they are trying to grow.  

Chicory Plus is recommended for planting in slightly well-drained soils to heavier soils that hold moisture. It can be planted in the spring or fall in most areas, and it can last three to five years with a single planting.

We know soil conditions aren’t always perfect so we added a PH booster to Secret Spot. Even if soil conditions aren’t perfect, Secret Spot can grow. Secret Spot requires just a little sweat equity and sprouts in a week or so with moist soil so it can be planted in the late summer or early fall and will be ready in time for deer season.

Best of all, the only equipment needed to plant Secret Spot is a rake, a little fertilizer and a little elbow grease. The area where the plot will grow needs to be raked to remove grass and debris.  Then you spread the seed, lightly re-rake the area to ensure good seed and soil contact and presto!  In a week or so, the seed will sprout with adequate rainfall.
